TRUTH BOMBS: WHAT YOUR MEAN THE CONSENSUS OF SCIENTISTS HAD THEIR INTERPRETATION OF THE DATA WRONG? I AM SO SHOCKED (NOT)! HOW COULD THAT BE?
Christians, Scientism is a dangerous human philosophy that is contaminating the minds of our kids! Do something about it.
ARTICLE: (A logarithmic illustration of the observable universe.Pablo Carlos Budassi)The visible universe just shrunk by 320 million light-years in all directions, updating a famous calculation that physicists first made 13 years ago.If you’re trying to calculate the size of the cosmos, the speed of light — the fastest anything can go — is a tempting place to begin and end. You’d reason that since the Big Bang happened some 13.8 billion years ago, there’s a 13.8-billion-light-year radius marking the edge of what mere mortals could see.Not so.As physicists have shown again and again over the past century, space is expanding faster and faster. There’s also a blinding glow of light that didn’t clear up until about 378,000 years after the Big Bang — an event called recombination (when particles finally cooled down enough to form the first atoms). If you take expansion, recombination, and other variables into account, as physicist J. Richard Gott III and several of his colleagues did in 2003, you get an observable universe that’s roughly 45.66 billion light-years in radius — or 91.32 billion light-years wide (if diameter is your thing). However, as physicists Paul Halpern and Nick Tomasello at the University of the Sciences explain in a post on Medium.com, that calculation was based on data from the WMAP satellite, which mapped the afterglow of the Big Bang — and that data is no longer the best around.Swapping in newer, more refined data on the universe’s expansion from the European Space Agency’s Planck satellite, Halpern and Tomasello calculated that the observable edge of the universe is actually 0.7% smaller, or 45.34 billion light-years in radius.Their paper with the new number-crunching will appear in an upcoming edition of the journal Advances in Astrophysics.”A difference of 320 million light-years might be peanuts on the cosmic scale, but it does make our knowable universe a little bit cozier,” Tomasello wrote in the post.A few things could stretch this observable limit a bit to 46.31 billion light-years, though — namely ghostly particles called neutrinos.Neutrinos pass through ordinary matter as if it isn’t there, so they could have sailed right through the glow of recombination and may offer the earliest-ever view of the universe. But the same reason they could do that also makes them devilishly hard to detect, as any physicist with an underground neutrino-detecting laboratory can attest.Business Insider sent a pre-print version of the study to Gott for his perspective on it, but we have yet to hear back from him.

Scientism is the belief in the infallibility and enlightenment of science. It is not science itself but a human philosophy about the nature of science. Many today seem have accepted this philosophy. It is different from the belief of biblical infallibility because science is constantly changing and therefore scientism offers no consistent absolutes to build a moral framework or system of values to live by, yet billions accept this philosophical “double think.”
From a recent blog:
“But this blog is at least about engaging mainstream science, and a stunning convergence of sciences describes the universe as 13.7 billion years old, and the earth at about 4.5 billion. For example, geologists have found annual layers in glaciers that can be dated at 740,000 years. Using the known rate of change in radioactive elements (referred to as radiometric dating), certain Earth rocks can be shown to be billions of years old, while the oldest solar system rocks are dated at 4.6 billion years. Astronomers use the distance to galaxies and the velocity of light to calculate that the light has been traveling for billions of years. The expansion of the universe gives an age for the universe as a whole 13.7 billion years old.” (source – http://www.huffingtonpost.com/greg-cootsona/creation-of-the-world-6-x_b_11396112.html)
So what is wrong with the above quotation? Fallacies are what is wrong with this quotation! “Mainstream science” as the author puts it, is his way of saying only the scientists that he accepts. This is indicative of Group Think or argumentum ad populem. The interpretation of data from a majority of the most socially popular scientists is not a foundation for a truth claim. Science is not mainsteam. A scientific discovery can be very unpopular and can even be ignored entirely.
Now as to the age of rock because of radiometric dating. Scientists have made key observations that compel us to reject the millions-of-years apparent ages that these techniques yield:
- Rocks of known age always show vastly inflated radioisotope “ages.” Such as volcanic rocks.
- Various radioisotope methods or even various attempts using the same method yield discordant ages more often than concordant ages.
- Many dating methods that don’t involve radioisotopes—such as helium diffusion, erosion, magnetic field decay, and original tissue fossils—conflict with radioisotope ages by showing much younger apparent ages.
These observations determines that radiometric dating is not trustworthy. Research has even identified precisely where radioisotope dating went wrong. But that is real science and not popular opinion.
Lastly the velocity of light. I encourage you to actually research this issue. It is not a constant! Yes I said it! The speed of light has always fluctuated but no one wants you to know that. We do not know how much it has fluctuated especially over the past 6000 years. I may be a little or exponentially.
An archaeological discovery announced on Sunday in Israel may help solve an enduring biblical mystery: where did the ancient Philistines come from? The Philistines left behind plenty of pottery. But part of the mystery surrounding the ancient people was that very little biological trace of them had been found — until 2013.That’s when archaeologists excavating the site of the biblical city of Ashkelon found what they say is the first Philistine cemetery ever discovered. They say they have uncovered the remains of more than 200 people there. The discovery was finally unveiled Sunday at the close of a 30-year excavation by the Leon Levy Expedition, a team of archaeologists from Harvard University, Boston College, Wheaton College in Illinois and Troy University in Alabama. The team is now performing DNA, radiocarbon and other tests on bone samples uncovered at the cemetery, dating back to between the 11th and the 8th centuries B.C., to help resolve a debate about the Philistines’ geographical origins. The archaeologists have not announced any conclusions, saying they are taking advantage of recent advances in DNA testing to get the most accurate results.”After decades of studying what Philistines left behind, we have finally come face to face with the people themselves,” said Daniel M. Master, professor of archaeology at Wheaton College and one of the leaders of the excavation. “With this discovery we are close to unlocking the secrets of their origins.”

TRUTHBOMBS: I am glad that the God I know can do what would seem impossible to man.
ARTICLE:In a move that could be aimed at healing a rift between science and religion, Pope Francis has said that evolution and the Big Bang are consistent with the notion of a creator. And according to the pontiff, believers should not view God as “a magician, with a magic wand.”Francis made the remarks at an assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, billed as meeting to discuss “Evolving Concepts of Nature.”

The article says:
“The most contentious current example is the doctrine of original sin, which is being debated by Christians around the world. Many, especially evangelicals, still cling to the notion that two proto-humans eating an apple is the source of all death and suffering in the world. In this traditional view, even animal suffering originated with human sin.”

This is what passes for “scholarship” today. This article is written by a “Dr.” of science and religion and he can’t even get his history correct about Galileo and Darwin.
First Galileo was not persecuted by the Catholic Church, if he was the Pope would not have had Galileo’s book published for the next 30 years after his death. Next, people visualize that Galileo was burned at the stake or something. He was only under house arrest for 3 months because of a dispute with the Pope, who was one of Galileo’s best childhood friends and not for his scientific discoveries.
Next this author says “as evolutionists point out, we now know a lot about the first humans and one thing we can say definitively is that there was no original Adam and Eve” Clearly he has NEVER reviewed the evidence of mitochondrial EVE or mitochondrial Adam before.
In the end, this is a clear example of what is wrong with modern science today. They ignore any logical contribution by religion and adhere to an apriori fallacy.
