Stories of God’s love common among those who almost die, says doctor who studies them – The Washington Post

TRUTHBOMBS: What I find interesting about this article is that the definition of love. Today people define that word very subjectively and so these NDE experiences usually become very euphoric is nature. They seem more like a morphine induced mind trip than death. I have read many more accounts that return unknown factual information by the deceased, which seem more plausible. The feelings of the decease should be irrelevant but the information they have must be scrutinized. -Stay Biblical my Friends

It doesn’t matter if they nearly died in an auto accident or a drug overdose, giving birth or attempting suicide. Among the thousands of people who chose to share their near-death experiences with the Near Death Experience Research Foundation, the report is often the same: They come back with a profound understanding of God’s love.Theologians sometimes talk about the omnibenevolence of God, the idea that God’s grace and charity is unlimited or infinite. For many who talk about encountering God, this term comes closest to the reality they describe. Here is a sampling of what some NDErs had to say about God’s love: “No human can ever love with the love I felt in that light. It is all-consuming, all-forgiving. Nothing matches it. It is like the day you looked into the eyes of your child for the first time magnified a million times. It’s indescribable.” “I felt the presence of pure love. This is very hard to describe. Everything made sense: God exists, God is love, we are love, and love creates all that is. … I was surrounded by pure love. First I was cold and in pain, but then I was warm and comforted.” “I know that love is all there is and that God loves all of His children deeply and equally. There are no stepchildren in the family of God. We are all divine.” “God loves us all infinitely.” “I felt God as an all-encompassing presence — complete, total, and unconditional love in its highest form! I was surrounded by God’s unconditional love, which was so much greater than human love. I was given the knowledge that God is real and loves me unconditionally — He exists and is real, and He is love.” “I came to realize that God is more loving and caring than I could ever imagine.” “The entire encounter was about God, the ultimate power of God, and God’s forgiveness. The message was, ‘Love is the greatest power in the universe.’ ”

Gay Marriages Triple After Four Years of Victories – Bloomberg

Three years after the U.S. Supreme Court forced the federal government to recognize same-sex marriages, and one year after the justices told holdout states to do the same, droves of LGBT Americans are taking advantage of their new rights.A Prudential Financial Inc. survey of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans has found that far fewer are single—and far more are married—than four years ago. While the drumbeat of coast-to-coast legalization was undoubtedly a driving force, the speed of this nationwide sprint to the altar has been remarkable, the study showed. Overall, 30 percent of LGBT respondents said they were married, up from 8 percent in 2012. That’s more than triple.“That was quite surprising to me, that it’s gone that fast, that quickly,” said Kent Sluyter, Prudential’s chief executive of individual life insurance and Prudential Advisors. “You see a very accelerated change that was released by these major decisions.”

The rush of gay marriages didn’t happen all at once, though. In 2012, at the time of the first survey, nine states recognized same-sex marriage, while by 2015, when the high court legalized gay marriage nationwide, 36 states recognized gay unions. The Prudential analysis also found that the percentage of LGBT respondents with children has jumped since 2012, from 23 percent to 36 percent for lesbians and from 7 percent to 15 percent for gay men.The LGBT population is notoriously difficult to survey. It’s hard for pollsters to find a group that is just a fraction of the overall population and that has historically had reason to be discreet. Prudential surveyed 35,000 Americans online to find 1,376 people aged 25-70 who identify as LGBT. Those respondents ended up being far younger than in the 2012 survey: Some 47 percent were millennials aged 37 and younger.

Bisexuals also made up a significantly bigger slice of the sample, at 52 percent, up from just 5 percent in 2012.This suggests that young people and bisexuals are getting more comfortable identifying themselves as LGBT, at least to pollsters. Only 23 percent of bisexuals said they were “fully out,” compared with 57 percent of gay men and 58 percent of lesbians. The Prudential study’s main focus was the “LGBT financial experience.” The Supreme Court’s twin decisions simplified many aspects of financial planning for people in same-sex relationships.

Even if legally married in their home states, LGBT couples used to face discrimination, as well as legal and financial headaches, when dealing with insurance, taxes, adoption, estate planning, Social Security, and retirement planning. The court solved many of these problems with its landmark rulings by forcing federal, state, and local governments to recognize same-sex unions.

The study comes less than two weeks after the shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub at which 49 people were killed, mostly young Latinos. The massacre cast a pall on LGBT Pride celebrations in New York, Chicago, and other cities this month, and it called attention to how gay and transgender Americans still face discrimination and violence despite a series of victories in courts, legislatures, and at the ballot box.“The world is changing, and it’s changing faster than we thought it would,” said Glennda Testone, executive director of the LGBT Community Center in New York. “And not enough has changed quickly enough.”

Even on economic matters, Testone said, there’s progress to be made. Transgender individuals face very high poverty rates and overall, LGBT people earn less than heterosexual Americans, Prudential found. That’s consistent with other studies but it defies stereotypes based on a small subset of the LGBT community: wealthy gay men who live in urban areas. Prudential found gay men tend to earn more than lesbians, reflecting a gender wage gap in the broader labor market. The survey did show, however, that gay men still earn less than heterosexual men.

Obama Administration Forces California Churches to Pay for Abortion

Churches in California are officially subject to an onerous state regulation that requires them to pay for abortions, thanks to a ruling by the Obama administration.

The troubling situation began in 2014 when the California Department of Managed Health Care reclassified abortion as a “basic health service” under the Affordable Care Act and ordered all insurance plans in the state to begin covering surgical abortions immediately. Even churches are not exempt from funding abortions.

The churches filed a lawsuit against the regulation last October, and it has been moving through the courts.

They also asked the Obama administration to uphold the Weldon Amendment — federal law that protects conscience rights. But, today, the HHS Office of Civil Rights released the results of its investigation into the California abortion mandate, stating it found no violation and is closing its investigation of the complaints without further action.

OCR’s decision is based on a flawed reading of the Weldon amendment.  They argue that the Weldon amendment only protects health insurance plans, and not the purchasers of such plans, and state that the insurance companies have not complained.  To say that a previously existing plan that excluded abortion must be discontinued is discriminatory against the life-affirming abortion-free plan.  Whether the insurance company objects or not, the mandate is discriminatory.

Furthermore, OCR states that the insurance companies do not hold a religious or moral objection to covering abortion.  The Weldon amendment is not limited to religious or moral objections.  It is not even based on an objection being raised.  It simply states no funds may be made available to a government that subjects a health care entity (health plan in this case) to discrimination on the basis that the entity “does not provide, pay for, provide coverage of, or refer for abortion.”

Study: Muslim citizenship outpacing non-Muslims in U.S.

Scores of Muslim migrants have filed suit against the United States in recent years, including 13 active cases, for allegedly showing “bias” against their applications for citizenship or green-card status. Typically the ACLU and the Council on American-Islamic Relations can be found backing these cases. But a new study released Monday by the Washington-based think-tank […]

Kentucky’s ark defies science but evokes a version of Christianity – The Boston Globe

You can feel the sarcasm in this article. They say things like: “it defies science.” Yet it confirms real observational science not the fantasy land bias that evolution puts out. Only the Bible makes sense of what we really observe in the world. Such as mutations NEVER increase information in the genome, only decrease. Therefore evolution is pure fiction yet billions bet their eternal life on it.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. — In the beginning, Ken Ham made the Creation Museum in northern Kentucky. And he saw that it was good at spreading his belief that the Bible is a book of history, the universe is only 6,000 years old, and evolution is wrong and is leading to our moral downfall.

And Ham said, let us build a gargantuan Noah’s ark only 45 minutes away to draw millions more visitors. And let it be constructed by Amish woodworkers, and financed with donations, junk bonds, and tax rebates from the state of Kentucky. And let it hold an animatronic Noah and lifelike models of some of the creatures that came on board two-by-two, such as bears, short-necked giraffes, and juvenile Tyrannosaurus rexes.

And it was so.
