The author writes: “Turns out I knew nothing and this religion of mine didn’t make any sense.”
First this is an example of the extreme ignorance of the modern Christian. According to the book The Dumbest Generation:
“Students reaching their senior year in high school have passed through several semesters of social studies and history, but few of them remember the significant events, figures, and texts. On the 2001 NAEP history exam, the majority of high school seniors, 57 percent, scored “below basic,” “basic” being defined as partial mastery of prerequisite knowledge and skills that allow for proficient work at a selected grade level. Only 1 percent reached “advanced.” (The NAEP has four scores: Advanced, Proficient, Basic, and Below Basic.) Incredibly, 52 percent of them chose Germany, Japan, or Italy over the Soviet Union as a U.S. ally in World War II.” (Bauerlein, Mark. The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future(Or, Don ‘t Trust Anyone Under 30) (p. 17). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition. )
This book highlights the true deficit in this generation knowledge economy. It goes on to report “More than one-third (37 percent) of twelfth-graders did not know that the 1962 Soviet-U.S. dispute arose over missiles in Cuba.”
This generation has at it’s fingertips more Biblical information and Biblical scientific discoveries than any generation before it and they are more interested in being entertained then being educated.
Don’t you think, Corinne Rogero (the author) that if you know nothing about this religion that you say your were baptized into twice, that you ought to become educated in it first before getting your tattoos (which is unbiblical anyway) and baptisms?
From her blog, I can analyze that she is an emotional driving and people oriented person. Nothing wrong with that. But if people are your foundation in the Christian faith, instead of the written Word, then you are seed scattered among thorns and weeds.
