Study Reveals Americans are Going to Church for the Wrong Reasons |

TRUTHBOMBS:  “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:2-4 (KJV)

Many unreligious Americans are willing to go to church, but not for the reasons you would think. LifeWayResearch released a study last week that reveals unchurched people are not attracted to church for the worship set or to learn more about God. Instead they are more willing to come to a church service or event if faith is not explicit. For example, 62 percent would attend a church meeting about neighborhood safety, community service event, 51 percent, sports or exercise program, 46 percent, concert, 45 percent, or an all-inclusive neighborhood event at a church, 45 percent. “Concerns for neighborhood safety and desire to express compassion to the under-resourced seem to be the biggest potential draws for the unchurched to get connected to a church,” said Rick Richardson, professor of evangelism and leadership at Wheaton College and research fellow for the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism.”Invite unchurched people to those kinds of events, and many say they will attend,” he concluded. However, only 35 percent are interested in attending a worship service, 25 percent would attend a recovery group, and only 24 percent would attend a special seminar on a spiritual topic. And what is the best way to bring people into the church? According to LifeWay Research, a personal invite is the most effective. “When it comes to church invitations, a personal touch works better than a sales pitch,” the report says. ‘Half (51 percent) of unchurched Americans say a personal invitation from a friend or family member would be effective in getting them to visit church,”So that means the best way to get the unchurched in church is to personally invite them to a church sponsored community service event or another event that demonstrates “compassion.”

Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne: Muhammad “instrument of God’s mercy”

TRUTHBOMBS: I admit that I have a great deal of respect for the Catholic Church. They understand that there is a certain beauty in Christianity and are one of the few denominations that try to preserve that. They also value tradition (although too much) and they have a clear chain of command (although an unbiblical one). But with these kinds of comments from prominent officers in the catholic church, I am losing what little respect I have for this denomination.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne has issued greetings to Muslims on the occasion of the feast of Eid al-Fitr. The Very Reverend Denis Stanley, Episcopal Vicar for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations for the Melbourne Archdiocese, wrote: The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne would like to extend its best wishes to the Muslim community in Victoria and Australia on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the Feast of the Breaking of the Fast, celebrated at the end of the sacred month of Ramadan. The Holy Qur’an was first revealed in the month of Ramadan and had a special purpose: And We sent down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers…” (Qur’an 17:82). The Prophet Muhammad was also sent as an instrument of God’s mercy: “And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the worlds.” (Qur’an 21:107). Ramadan, therefore, has been a time of reflecting on God’s mercy and preparing oneself to receive it….Note that Stanley doesn’t write that Muslims believe that the Qur’an was revealed, or that Muhammad was sent as an instrument of God’s mercy. He states these elements of Islamic belief as if they were universally accepted facts.Does the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne, then, believe that the Qur’an was revealed by God, and that Muhammad is a true prophet? Stanley, if challenged (which he will not be) on this point, would probably say no, he was just being generous and ecumenical. Very well. But then why not speak precisely, rather than sow confusion by making what appear to be affirmations of Islamic faith? And when have the Melbourne Archdiocese Muslim partners in “interfaith dialogue” ever made affirmations of Christian faith in a likewise generous and ecumenical spirit? Why, never, of course. They’re more careful, and more aware of what the purpose of the “dialogue” really is.What’s more: the issuance of such a fulsome and fatuous message, with no reference whatsoever to the Christians being exiled and massacred by believers in the Qur’an and Muhammad and in accord with their teachings, is nothing short of obscene.

The UK women seeking divorce through Sharia councils – BBC News

TRUTHBOMBS: You Christians better wake up. The UK is the test site for the US. I know that some cities in Texas are trying to start this kind of thing too.

The use of Sharia councils in the UK to settle disputes using Islamic religious law has been criticised for discriminating against women. With rare access, the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme looks at what takes place inside one such council.”Is it not possible to forget all the things he has done to you?” one of three Islamic scholars asks Yasmeenah – not her real name – in a side room of Birmingham Central Mosque.Yasmeenah has been in an arranged marriage since the age of 15, and says her husband has emotionally and physically abused her throughout the relationship. She has come to this Sharia council – one of an estimated 30 established councils across the UK, often referred to as Sharia “courts” – in the hope the scholars will grant her a divorce from her Islamic marriage, or nikah. She dismisses the idea that she can overlook the past and continue the relationship

TRUTHBOMBS: Wow, you can feel the sarcasm coming off in this article. They also try to quote from some “experts” (can you say expert fallacy) . It amazes me how so called science can criticize creationism all the while they must believe 1) nothing created something. 2) non-life created life. 3) non-consciousness created consciousness. And that 4) morality exists but no absolute standard. Yeah right, Christians sure are crazy [sarcasm]!

First up from the God Machine this week is the long-awaited opening of a religious attraction in Kentucky that’s not quite like anything else in the world. A 510-foot-long, $100 million Noah’s ark attraction built by Christians who say the biblical story really happened is ready to open in Kentucky this week. […] “I believe this is going to be one of the greatest Christian outreaches of this era in history,” said Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, the ministry that built the ark.The media and select supporters were invited to tour the attraction on Tuesday, two days before regular customers could check out the life-sized Noah’s Ark for themselves. To put it mildly, the “Ark Encounter” attraction is not without controversy. As regular readers know, the Christian ministry that built the mammoth structure demanded and received taxpayer subsidies for this project, despite the fact that all employees – including staff whose responsibilities have nothing to do with religion – will be required to be Christian and sign a written document professing “Christ as their savior.” Indeed, those hoping to work at “Ark Encounter” must also submit a “creation belief statement” before being hired, which includes endorsing the idea that the planet is roughly 6,000 years old. The fact that Kentucky taxpayers are subsidizing all of this may seem legally problematic, but a Bush/Cheney-appointed federal judge cleared the way for the public assistance, and Gov. Matt Bevin (R), delighted with the outcome, did not appeal the case that had been litigated by his Democratic predecessor. There’s also the fact that this theme-park attraction isn’t just a fun excursion for tourists. The point of “Ark Encounter” is to promote a Christian ministry’s worldview, “share the gospel,” and encourage visitors to embrace young-earth creationism. This ark’s builders genuinely believe the story of Noah is literally true – complete with dinosaurs on the replica of the mythical boat. Dan Phelps, the head of the Kentucky Paleontological Society, showed up for the opening on Thursday and told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the boat’s wooden craftsmanship was impressive, but the scientific exhibits, which he called “beyond pseudo-science, more like non-science,” were appalling. For what it’s worth, while the Book of Genesis says Noah relied on tar and gopher wood, “Ark Encounter” was constructed with a team of workers using contemporary tools and materials. If the ministry intended to prove what was possible millennia ago, it may have unintentionally hurt its own theological case. Also from the God Machine this week: * Bicentennial: “Just as their religious ancestors did exactly two centuries ago, members of the AME Church made a pilgrimage to Philadelphia on Wednesday (July 6) for the opening of the denomination’s General Conference. They gathered not only to remember their history, but to continue to forge a path toward racial justice.” * At the Western Conservative Summit this week, reality-show personality Phil Robertson shared his belief this week that the calendar offers proof of the existence of Jesus. * And the Washington Post this week published a piece from a New York psychiatrist who claims to occasionally work on patients who are possessed by demons. He wasn’t kidding. Why a major American newspaper would publish this as if readers should consider demonic possession a credible phenomenon is unclear (thanks to reader R.B. for the heads-up).

Israel Find May Help Solve Mystery of Biblical Philistines – ABC News

An archaeological discovery announced on Sunday in Israel may help solve an enduring biblical mystery: where did the ancient Philistines come from? The Philistines left behind plenty of pottery. But part of the mystery surrounding the ancient people was that very little biological trace of them had been found — until 2013.That’s when archaeologists excavating the site of the biblical city of Ashkelon found what they say is the first Philistine cemetery ever discovered. They say they have uncovered the remains of more than 200 people there. The discovery was finally unveiled Sunday at the close of a 30-year excavation by the Leon Levy Expedition, a team of archaeologists from Harvard University, Boston College, Wheaton College in Illinois and Troy University in Alabama. The team is now performing DNA, radiocarbon and other tests on bone samples uncovered at the cemetery, dating back to between the 11th and the 8th centuries B.C., to help resolve a debate about the Philistines’ geographical origins. The archaeologists have not announced any conclusions, saying they are taking advantage of recent advances in DNA testing to get the most accurate results.”After decades of studying what Philistines left behind, we have finally come face to face with the people themselves,” said Daniel M. Master, professor of archaeology at Wheaton College and one of the leaders of the excavation. “With this discovery we are close to unlocking the secrets of their origins.”

Capt. Joseph John: Muslim Brotherhood ‘Fifth Column’ Has Infiltrated U.S. Government – Breitbart

TRUTHBOMBS: This news article is only stating the fact of what TruthBombs already knew. Wake Up America!

ARTICLE: Many law abiding Muslim America citizens have assimilated in the United States and fought as members of the US Armed Forces, against Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, and also against “Radical Islamic Terrorism” over the last 50 years. They are opposed to ISIS’ murderous attacks against gays, Christians, and Jews, and are frightened of the “Radical Islamic Terrorist” threat. More Muslims worldwide than Americans have been murdered by “Radical Islamic Terrorists.”The Muslim Brotherhood (the progenitor of Jihadism), and its front groups, the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), do not have members who are law abiding Muslim Americans, like many Muslim Americans who are good citizens and have assimilated in the United States. Members of the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, and MPAC have sinister goals that are not in support of the US Constitution or The Bill of Rights. They have become a very dangerous “Fifth Column” in the United States, appointed by Obama to very high and sensitive positions in the US Government agencies. For nearly 8 years Obama has been filling the Washington bureaucracy including DHS, the CIA, DOD, the National Security Council, the White House, the State Department, every US Intelligence Agency, and the US Armed Forces with thousands of members of the CAIR, MPAC, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other Muslim Brotherhood front groups.

Muslim drug ring flooded NYC with a ton of synthetic pot | Creeping Sharia

A 10-man drug ring that distributed over a ton of synthetic marijuana to city bodegas has gone up in smoke, authorities announced Wednesday. The operation, spearheaded by Adullah Deiban, Faris Nasser Kassim and Morad Nasser Kassim, involved chemicals shipped from from China to at least one processing facility in the Bronx where they would be mixed and then sprayed onto leafy materials like tea leaves, according to an indictment. The materials were then packaged into flashy packets, distributed to bodegas around the city and sold for around $5 each, documents charge.Between Sept. 2014 and this month the drug crew imported enough chemicals to produce 260,000 packets of the drug, commonly known as K2 or Spice, worth over $30 million on the street, Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said.Six of the 10 suspected members of the drug ring were in custody. The 10 alleged members of the ring — who were mostly of Yemeni descent — face drug conspiracy charges, which carry a maximum of 20 years in prison. The chemicals allegedly used by the men are considered controlled substances.

Bill O’Reilly Wakes Up to Obama’s Muslim Problem — 8 Years Too Late | Pamela Geller

Well, whaddaya know? Rip Van O’Reilly has had an epiphany — eight years too late. He is just realizing now what my colleagues and I have been chronicling and warning of for the past 8 years? He never had us on to discuss. On the contrary, he stumped for Obama and scrubbed Obama’s troubling ties and jihad-terror alliances. And he has attacked our work.
