A teacher at a Virginia middle school was facing backlash this week after assigning a controversial worksheet Friday that asked students to define terms such as “mistress” and “boy toy.
Aafter he opened fire in the school’s cafeteria on Wednesday. Police say Angela McQueen’s quick response saved lives. A 16-year-old student was shot and later released from the hospital, and the suspect, who the police said was a student, is in custody.
The shooter, whose identity was being withheld since he is a minor, acted alone at Mattoon High School. As students there return for classes Thursday morning, they’ll find their belongings exactly how they left them as they dropped everything when shots rang out, reports CBS News’ Tony Dokoupil.
More than 100 police officers raced toward the chaos at Mattoon High School just after 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Students and faculty running for safety reported a shooter in the school’s cafeteria.
“It was one of the scariest things that could happen,” said Braeton Davis, one of the students in the cafeteria when another student opened fire. His knuckles were grazed in the shooting.
“That’s when I looked left, and I saw the person holding the gun, and then they fired three to five more shots,” Davis said.
TUTH BOMBS: Moral corruption, moral depravity… call it what you will…. this world is falling apart.
ARTICLE: A shocking video captured the moment a 12-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old girl Friday morning during a fight at a Nevada middle school.
TRUTH BOMBS: Disturbing. The headline says it all. We are in a moral collapse.
Sidney Woytasczyk, 21, is charged with child abandonment and faces up to 20 years behind bars.
Darwinist Jerry Coyne, who has recently advocated the medical killing of handicapped babies so they won’t “suffer,” has added another class of people to his kill list: people who are depressed.
In response to a doctor’s suggestion in an article that a patient who was not physically suffering but who was depressed should be offered euthanasia, Coyne writes:
My answer, as was that of another expert discussed in the piece, is “yes”, but I’d offer them antidepressants first…
Goodness gracious. Coyne is now advocating euthanasia for depressed people, and make no mistake about it: euthanasia for depression is gaining wider acceptance — the Netherlands is already euthanizing people for depression and other mental health issues. Of course he gives a passing nod to offering anti-depressants first. But if they don’t work or the patient doesn’t want them, Coyne recommends that the doctor kill the patient, if the patient wants to die.
TRUTHBOMBS: What is wrong with people?
Having children is the most destructive thing a person can to do to the environment, according to a new study. Researchers from Lund University in Sweden found having one fewer child per family can save “an average of 58.6 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions per year”.
Sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie:
Newlyweds honeymooning in Florida kidnapped and raped a woman at a motel and then got naked the following day inside a nearby convenience store and stole a couple of sodas, police said Friday.
Insurance companies in Oregon would be required to cover abortions and other reproductive services at no cost to the patient regardless of income, citizenship status or gender identity under a measure approved Wednesday by lawmakers.
Oregon already has some of the most liberal abortion laws in the U.S., leaving out otherwise common requirements for waiting periods or spending limits on taxpayer funds.
The measure, which does offer some religious-based exemptions, comes as the federal government and other states are seeking restrictions on abortion services.
President Donald Trump earlier this year signed legislation allowing states to withhold federal family planning funds from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. In May, the Texas Legislature approved a sweeping package of new abortion limits.
Oregon’s legislation has been in the making for years but was introduced in early March largely in response to Republican congressional leaders’ earliest attempts to repeal former President Barack Obama’s health care law, which includes minimum coverage requirements for birth control and other reproductive services.
The Democratic-controlled Oregon Senate approved the measure in a 17-13 vote along party lines. It now heads to Democratic Gov. Kate Brown.
A New York City hospital on Thursday said it would be willing to admit and evaluate Charlie Gard, the terminally ill 11-month-old in London, just days after a European court ruled he should be taken off life support.
